DIVINE
AUTHORITY AND
PRIESTHOOD
Saving ordinances of the gospel are recorded in heaven only when performed by
one holding divine authority. Every
man of God in the Bible was called of God and ordained to divine authority.
Only the Melchisedec Priesthood has authority from God to baptize with
water and the Spirit. The Father
called and ordained Jesus (Heb. 5:5) to the highest order of the Melchisedec
Priesthood; as Apostle and Prophet. Jesus
called and ordained the twelve (Mark 3:14).
The twelve called and ordained elders in every city (Acts 14:23).
“And
no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was
Aaron.” (Heb. 5:4) “Beginning
from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must
one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.” (Acts 1:22)
19 Go ye therefore, and teach
all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo, I am with you alway, even
unto the end of the world. Amen.—
Matthew 28
The most important principle in the Christian religion, and
the least understood, is divine authority. To
act in the name of either a person, government, or a body of men is to act by
their authority. Baptism “in
the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost,” must be
performed by one holding divine authority, to be recorded in heaven.
“19 And I will give unto thee
the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall
be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in
heaven.” (Matt. 16)
Only those properly called and ordained, in accordance with the law of God, are
permitted by God to either preach, or administer the ordinances of the gospel of
Christ. God established this rule
for the administration of His kingdom forever. “4
And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as
was Aaron.” (Heb. 5) As
a perfect and unchangeable God, His spiritual law is perfect and unchangeable.
Whatever was required for one person to act in the name of God, is
necessary for every other person. The
Bible does not recognize either a person, or an act without such divine
authority. God forbids such.
“7 Thou shalt not take the name
[authority] of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him
guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” (Ex. 20)
Divine authority is the first, and most important, principle required to
preach the gospel and administer its ordinances.
KINGDOM
OF
HEAVEN
Men seek to enter the kingdom of heaven without appreciating the principles by
which it functions. The kingdom has
(1) a king, (2) laws, (3) officers, (4) members, and (5) an adoption process.
(1) Jesus was ordained King
before the foundation of the world, was ordained King under the hands of the
Father in the flesh, was given all power from the Father after His resurrection,
and will be King over the world at His return.
(2)
Law of God
Every kingdom/government is maintained
by a code of laws. Where there is no
law, anarchy reigns. Where there are unjust laws, rebellion follows.
The spiritual law of God is a perfect law.
It is based on Love, judgment, and justice.
The law of God embodies every aspect of human life.
It addresses God’s will toward man, man’s duty toward God, and
man’s responsibility to his fellow man. It
includes laws concerning the organization of the kingdom of God, the law of the
gospel, and the behavior of man (e.g. Ten Commandments).
The law of good and evil is planted in the heart of every man.
Those who have the opportunity to know God and obey the Gospel are given a
choice: they can either (1) submit
their will to the will of God, worship the God of Israel, obey His commandments,
and inherit the blessings, or (2) turn to the will of man, lose communication
with God, and inherit the curses.
“1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice
of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command
thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of
the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if
thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God… 9 The LORD shall
establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou
shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.”
“15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the
LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I
command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake
thee.” (Deut. 28)
A study of the law of God is found on the page, “Book & Law of God.”
(3)
Divine Authority
Every kingdom must have officers to be the keepers, expounders, and
administrators of its laws. What
governmental official would allow a stranger to usurp his office?
If a man was to attempt to act as the Sheriff of a community, those
legally set in authority would arrest him and prosecute him according to the
law. God established a regular
priesthood to serve in this capacity.
Without authority there is
spiritual anarchy. “14
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about
with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness,
whereby they lie in wait to deceive.” (Eph. 4)
God established an order to the priesthood; which was to remain
forever. Not one minister in
orthodox Christianity claims to be a minister of this order.
Can an illegal alien declare himself/others citizens of the United States?
Only one holding proper authority can admit a person into citizenship.
The kingdom of heaven is no different, in that respect.
Membership is dependent on divine
authority; and obeying the rules for membership.
“7
Thou shalt not take the name [authority] of the LORD thy God in vain; for the
LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” (Ex. 20)
“4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of
God, as was Aaron.” (Heb. 5)
A person could read the Bible a thousand times, and attend a thousand sermons by
one lacking in divine authority, and still never receive gospel faith.
“14
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?
and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they
preach, except they be sent? as
it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of
peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed
the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord,
who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God.” (Rom. 10)
Gospel faith is a gift from God; and can only be received through one holding
divine authority. How vain it would
be to understand the gospel; and have no one to legally administer its
ordinances. Baptism of water and the
Spirit is only recorded in heaven; when performed by one holding divine
authority. “19
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou
shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on
earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matt. 16)
Some have thought they can take up the commission given to the Apostles, “15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world,
and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16)
No man can take up the commission of another.
A bridesmaid cannot claim to be the bride.
She has no rights with respect to the groom.
The Apostle John called such whores.
Jesus was called and ordained to preach the gospel by the Father.
The Apostles could not use His commission.
Jesus called and ordained the Apostles.
Others could not take up their commission.
They called and ordained elders in every church.
Nothing is so sure in the Bible as the requirement of divine authority to
administer in the name of God.
Calling to Divine Authority
How does one receive this calling? Only
through a revelation of God’s will by the Holy Ghost; and an ordination at the
hands of one holding such authority. "2
As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me
Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. 3 And when they had
fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them
away." (Acts 13) Who
received this revelation? The
Apostles. Who laid their hands on
them, ordained them, and sent them on their mission?
The Apostles. They were
called by the spirit of prophesy and then ordained at the hands of those holding
divine authority.
The Apostle Paul told his son, "14
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with
the laying on of the hands of the presbytery." (1 Tim. 4)
Only through prophecy is the will of God manifested through one already
holding such authority. “15 And how shall they preach,
except they be sent? as it is
written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and
bring glad tidings of good things!” (Rom. 10)
As all ministers of God must be called by prophecy, the testimony of Jesus is
the spirit of prophecy. It is the
rock upon which the church of God is established.
“18 And I say also unto thee,
That thou art Peter, and upon this rock [revelation] I will build my church; and
the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matt. 16)
“17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with
the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the
testimony of Jesus Christ.” (Rev. 12) “10
…for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Rev. 19)
The calling of Aaron to the priesthood was given by the Apostle Paul as
an example for all. “4
And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as
was Aaron.” (Heb. 5) How
was Aaron called? Through a
revelation given to Moses; and an ordination by Moses through the laying on of
hands. Only one holding divine
authority can call another to the ministry.
“1
And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the
children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even
Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.” (Ex. 28)
Not even Jesus was exempt from this rule.
He was ordained an Apostle, Prophet, and High Priest at the hands of the
Father. “5
So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he [the
Father] that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee…
10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.” (Heb. 5)
By virtue of the priesthood which He then held, Jesus became a son of God
in the flesh. “1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle
and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.” (Heb. 3)
“22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the
Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye
hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.” (Acts 3)
This rule on calling to the ministry was well known among the disciples of
Jesus. “22
Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from
us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.”
(Acts 1)
God ordained Jesus. Jesus ordained
the twelve Apostles. The Apostles
then ordained elders in every church affording each with divine authority to
preach the gospel and administer the ordinances of the gospel (e.g. baptism).
"23
And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed
with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed."
(Acts 14)
The two basic laws of God related to priesthood are:
(1) each must be called of God through the spirit of prophecy, and (2)
each must be ordained at the hands of one holding at least as high priesthood.
(1) As orthodox Christianity
declares revelations ceased with the Apostles, they declare they usurp the
authority of God every time they preach and baptize.
Having no divine authority their acts are not recorded in heaven.
(2) The lesser is always blessed of the greater. “And
without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.” (Heb. 7:7)
The stream can rise no higher than its source.
Only one that legitimately holds a particular degree of priesthood can
ordain another to that degree. The
successors of Apostles and Elders are Apostles and Elders.
A deacon cannot ordain a Priest. A
lay member has no authority to either call, or ordain any degree of priesthood.
The only possible source of divine authority in orthodox Christianity is the
Catholic Church. At the moment the
unbaptized, pagan Roman Emperor Constantine stood as absolute head of the
Christian Church, she lost all divine authority and became a whore, instead of
the bride of Christ. As she lost all
divine authority, her daughters could only be harlots; and not the Church and
bride of Christ.
Where did the authority professed among Protestant churches begin?
By the will of man. Martin
Luther was only a deacon in the Catholic Church.
It is an office of the Levitical and not the Melchisedec Priesthood. Unless
a minister has been called of God and properly anointed (ordained) he is a false
prophet (teacher). As the definition
of Christ is “anointed,” he is more appropriately an antichrist.
Anyone seeking to enter the kingdom of heaven, must look for one holding the
Melchisedec Priesthood. It is the
only key that unlocks the door into the kingdom of heaven and eternal life.
Two Orders of Priesthood
There are only two orders of the priesthood noted in the Bible:
the Melchisedec and the Aaronic (Levitical) Priesthoods.
“11
If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it
the people received the [added] law,) what further need was there that another
priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called
after the order of Aaron?... 15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after
the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, 16 Who is made, not
after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of
Melchisedec.” (Heb. 7)
Aaronic (Levitical) Priesthood
The lower Aaronic (Levitical) Priesthood was introduced on the earth when
Israel fell into idolatry at Mt. Sinai. They
had the opportunity to become a nation of Priests after the order of
Melchisedec—of which are kings and princes.
Instead they returned to the gods of Egypt.
This idolatry brought them under a law of carnal commandments (added law
given to Moses); which they had to obey until the coming of Jesus.
They were left with only a few holding the Melchisedec Priesthood
(Prophets, Prophet Judges, and High Priest Kings); but, they were to be ruled,
according to the law of carnal commandments, by the Aaronic (Levitical)
Priesthood.
John the Baptist was a Priest of the Aaronic order.
His father Zacharias was a Priest in the temple before him.
This office held divine authority to baptize with water.
John the Baptist, because of his lineage and righteousness, was called of
God to the great honor of baptizing Jesus. Jesus
had to obey the law of the gospel. “5
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the
Spirit, he cannot enter into the
kingdom
of
God
.”
(John 3) Before He could
preach and administer the gospel, He had to be baptized by one holding authority
from God. Therefore, He went to
John.
“13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto
John, to be baptized of him… 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up
straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he
saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him.” (John 3)
“6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even
as he walked.” (1 John 2)
Other Priests of the Aaronic order preached the gospel to the Gentiles.
They were limited to baptizing with water.
It was necessary for one holding the Melchisedec priesthood to baptize
them with the Holy Ghost. “14 Now when the apostles which
were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent
unto them Peter and John: 15 Who,
when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy
Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized
in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they
received the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 8)
The Melchisedec Priesthood
When the Jews rejected the priesthood, and the renewed spiritual covenant,
under Moses, they were left to obey the added law; until Jesus.
The last Prophet of God was Malachi; about four hundred years before
Jesus. By the time of Jesus, none
remained in the Melchisedec Priesthood. There
were none left to baptize with the Holy Ghost.
“I indeed baptize
you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I,
whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost,
and with fire.” (Matt. 3:11) John
held only the Aaronic Priesthood; and only held divine authority to baptize with
water. Jesus was to hold the
Melchisedec Priesthood and hold divine authority to baptize with the Spirit.
Jesus fulfilled the added law of Moses. Gentiles
were only responsible for the spiritual law and everlasting covenant.
The everlasting covenant has always been an oath to worship only the God
of Israel; and obey His commandments. Gentiles
were not bound to either obey the covenant on circumcision of the flesh, or to
obey the law of carnal commandments.
This caused some difficulty between Jewish and Gentile converts.
Gentile converts were bound to the spiritual covenant made through the
Melchisedec priesthood. Although the
everlasting spiritual covenant remains the same, it is often termed a “new
covenant;” when lost and then restored by a prophet of God (as was true with
Moses and Jesus).
Adam, Noah, and Abraham all obeyed the same spiritual covenant; which requires
obedience to the gospel and law of God. It
is sealed by circumcision of the heart. “11 And he [Abraham] received
the sign of circumcision [of the heart], a seal of the righteousness of the
faith which he had yet being uncircumcised [in the flesh]: that he might be the
father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised [in the flesh];
that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: 12 And the father of
circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in
the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet
uncircumcised. 13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was
not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the [added] law, but through the
righteousness of faith.” (Rom 4)
“27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is
neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be
Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
(Gal. 3)
Jesus restored the highest office in the Melchisedec priesthood.
When He fulfilled His mission He also fulfilled the added law.
“18
For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the
weakness and unprofitableness thereof.” (Heb. 7)
Jesus fulfilled the added law; but, made no change to the spiritual law.
“17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law [spiritual law], or the prophets: I
am not come to destroy, but to fulfil [the added law]. 18 For verily I say unto
you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass
from the [spiritual] law, till all be fulfilled.” (Matt. 5)
After Jesus was baptized of water, “16
…the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending
like a dove, and lighting upon him.” (Matt. 3)
The Spirit led him into the wilderness; where He fasted for forty days.
Satan offered Him all the kingdoms of the world, if He would worship him.
After refusing these temptations, “11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels
came and ministered unto him.” (Matt. 4) More
explicitly, the Father ordained Him as an Apostle, Prophet, and High Priest of
the Melchisedec Priesthood. “So
also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he [the Father]
that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.” (Heb. 5:5)
The Melchisedec priesthood is the higher priesthood, administers in spiritual
affairs, and is for life everlasting. Ordained
to this priesthood, Jesus and those following Him, were vested with divine
authority to preach the gospel AND administer its saving ordinances.
This higher priesthood was held by Adam; and by first born sons to Noah
and Shem. Melchisedec held this
priesthood before Abraham; and most likely ordained (blessed) Abraham.
“1 For this Melchisedec, king
of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the
slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 3 [this priesthood is] Without father,
without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of
life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.” (Heb.
7)
The Jews knew only the Aaronic priesthood at the time of Jesus.
The Aaronic priesthood was possessed only by the first born sons of Aaron
in the tribe of Levi. The
Melchisedec Priesthood could be held by any man in Israel.
As a Lawgiver, like unto Moses, Jesus had to be of the seed of Abraham
and tribe of Judah. The genealogies
in both Matthew and Luke offer this lineage through His father Joseph.
“14
For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake
nothing concerning priesthood.
As Jesus was a prophet like Moses, it is evident that Moses also held the
highest rank of the Melchisedec priesthood.
We find three ranks given in the Bible in the office of Apostle.
Moses, Jesus, and others were first degree Apostles.
They were Apostles, Prophets, and Lawgivers.
The transgression of Israel caused this highest degree to be lost.
Moses was commanded to place a lower rank on Joshua, that of a second
degree Apostle. These two
offices stand at the head of the people of God on the earth, and the Church of
Christ; according to a direct calling from God.
Joshua, holding this superior priesthood, stood above all others.
"18 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee
Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon
him; 19 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the
congregation; and give him a charge in their sight. 20 And thou shalt put
some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of
Israel may be obedient. 21 And he shall stand before [above] Eleazar the
priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the
LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in,
both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation. 22
And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before
Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation: 23 And he laid his hands
upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of
Moses." (Num. 27)
Jesus held the highest office in the Melchisedec Priesthood by virtue of
His ordination, “anointing,” by the Father (Heb. 5:5).
Jesus was an Apostle, Prophet, and Lawgiver like Moses—a first degree
Apostle. As an Apostle, he also held
all lower offices; including that of High Priest.
There has never been more than one first degree Apostle on the earth at
any one time. There can be only one
head of the Church of God on the earth.
The twelve Apostles held a lower order of the priesthood.
They were third degree Apostles.
Unlike first and second degree Apostles that stand at the head of the
church; their office was missionaries to the nations of the world.
The first use of this order of priesthood was in the days of Jesus.
Their mission was not fulfilled; until after the death of Jesus; when the
gospel was taken to the Gentiles. Like
all other ministers of God, they had to be called and ordained to that office.
The Twelve Apostles were called and ordained by Jesus.
"14 And he ordained twelve,
that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach."
(Mark 4)
Peter was first to stand at the head of the church after the death of Jesus; and
John was the last. The death of
Judas left the first vacancy in the twelve.
The appointment of Peter, to the head, left another vacancy (John 21).
First, Mathias was called to the twelve (Acts 1:26) to replace Judas.
Paul (Saul) was next called to fill the vacancy left by Peter (Acts
9:15).
The second order of the Melchisedec Priesthood includes the offices of High
Priest and elder. Patriarchs and
Kings were High Priests. Elders
are responsible for preaching and administering the gospel; and for managing the
internal affairs within the various churches.
Therefore, the Apostles ordained elders in every city (Acts 14:23).
Divine Authority Required For Salvation
Cornelius is believed to have been the first Gentile convert.
“1 There was a certain man in
Caesarea
called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band.” (Acts 10)
He was a devoutly religious man who desired to enter the kingdom of heaven.
“2 A devout man, and one that
feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to
God always. 3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an
angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. 4 And when he
looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord?
And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a
memorial before God. 5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose
surname is Peter.” (Acts 10)
Cornelius was both an honorable man, a believer in God, and had accepted Jesus
as his Savior. “36
The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus
Christ: (he is Lord of all:) 37 That word [about Jesus], I say, ye know, which
was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism
which John preached; 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost
and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed
of the devil; for God was with him.”
Why did this first Gentile Christian have to send for Peter?
Cornelius had to be baptized of water and the Spirit, by one holding
divine authority to seal such ordinances in heaven.
Peter was an Apostle; and held the Melchisedec Priesthood.
“19
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou
shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on
earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matt. 16)
In the democratic governments of man, a person is called of man (by vote)
and the swearing into office empowers him act in that office.
In the kingdom of God, it is necessary for one to be called of God and
ordained by one holding that authority. With
this authority he is empowered to preach the gospel and administer its
ordinances; and his acts are sealed both on earth and in heaven.
A couple who are married by this authority are sealed together for time
and eternity. Marriage by those
lacking in such authority only have power to marry, “till death do you
part.”
What did Peter do after he visited Cornelius?
He baptized him with water and the Spirit—the only door into the
kingdom of heaven. “47
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received
the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the
name of the Lord. Then prayed they
him to tarry certain days.” (Acts 10)
The whole Bible is a testimony that only men who are called of God by prophesy,
and ordained by one holding that authority, can act in the name of God.
“4
And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was
Aaron.” (Heb. 5)
Divine Authority in the Christian Church
In Orthodox Christianity, only the Catholic church claims divine authority.
What actually happened to divine authority in the Christian church?
Why did God stop speaking to man after the Apostle John?
Is man no longer in need of revelation?
Did God change the system He had used four thousand years?
“6 For
I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”
(Mal. 3) Man separates
himself from God by sin and disbelief. “1
Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear
heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and
your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”
(Isaiah 59)
The Bible and Ecclesiastical historians provide the answer to what happened to
divine authority. The Old and New
Testaments agree that the Gentiles would fall into apostasy; and lose the
priesthood. “5
The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have
transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. 6
Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are
desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men
left.” (Isa. 24)
“11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that
I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water,
but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea,
and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word
of the LORD, and shall not find it.” (Amos 8)
“19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my
refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends
of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and
things wherein there is no profit.” (Jer. 16)
Jesus was first in the New Testament to note of a coming falling away; an
apostasy of the Gentiles. “3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day [return of Jesus] shall not
come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed,
the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is
called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of
God, shewing himself that he is God.” (2 Thess. 2)
According to the Martyrs Mirror, by 70 AD all of the Apostles, except
Luke and John, were murdered by Rome. This
was the same year that Rome destroyed Judea and murdered over ninety percent of
the Jews. Luke was murdered in 93
AD; and John is believed to have died in 99 AD.
Before Paul’s death, in 69 AD, he told of the Gentiles returning to
their pagan traditions. “29
For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among
you, not sparing the flock.” (Acts 20) “7
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth
will let, until he be taken out of the way.” (2 Thess. 2)
“3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but
after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching
ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned
unto fables.” (2 Tim. 4)
Jesus appeared to John while he was exiled on the Isle of Patmos.
The first three chapters of Revelation are a rebuke of the Gentile
churches. Members of the church at
Ephesus were condemned, commanded to repent, and to be re-baptized.
“5 Remember therefore from
whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works [baptism]; or else I
will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place,
except thou repent.” (Rev. 2) The
church at Pergamos was commanded to repent, “because thou hast there them that hold the
doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the
children of Israel.” The
church at Thyatira was warned for falling into pagan practices, “20 Notwithstanding I have a
few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which
calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit
fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.”
The church at Sardis was commanded to repent, “2 …for I have not
found thy works perfect before God.” (Rev. 3)
The church at
Laodicea
was warned, “16
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee
out of my mouth.”
John told of the Church of Christ being lost to the world for 1260 years, “6 And the woman [Church of Christ] fled into the
wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her
there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.” (Rev. 12)
Having destroyed the Church of Christ, Rome declared war on divine
authority and the other saints. “17 And the dragon was wroth
with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed [authorized
priesthood], which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus
Christ.” Finally, the
apostasy would bring an end to all saints of God.
“7 And it was given unto him to
make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over ALL
kindreds, and tongues, and nations.” (Rev. 13)
Enter Constantine
Historians and church leaders have verified this apostasy.
The most significant event that affected Christianity was the
reorganization of the church, in the early fourth century, by Constantine.
He became the sole ruler of Rome, by killing anyone who opposed him.
He murdered his father-in-law Maximian in 310.
Then he killed his main rival, and brother-in-law, Maxentius in 312; and
had his head "carried through the city on a pike."
He killed his brother-in-law Bassianus in 314, his nephew Lincinianus, a
boy of only 13, in 319, his wife Fausta in 320, and his first born son.
"To a world threatened by dissolution, the unifying impulse can only seem
virtuous, yet the perennial human problem is how to keep the ideal of unity free
of the burden of tyranny, and that problem reached a point of crisis in the Age
of Constantine. For him, unification
was by definition a matter of domination.
And that played itself out in the wars he waged against his rivals.
But military domination was only part of his agenda.
At a deeper level, he wanted a spiritual domination too." (Constantine’s
Sword, p. 180)
"The unity of the empire--under himself--was to him the absolute political
virtue...So in turning to religion, unity of belief and practice, not tolerance
of diversity, had to seem paramount... Constantine really understands himself
by now as 'the vice-regent of god.' " (Ibid., p. 187)
Constantine
became recognized as god on earth.
Consolidating Rome required the establishment of a state religion.
He accomplished this in 325 AD. Neither
the pagans, nor the Jews could be converted. Mithraism
was the primary religion in the empire. Christians
had been slipping back into paganism, since the days of the Apostles.
Constantine realized his goal by converting Christianity to paganism; and
then declaring war against the Jews. First,
as an unbaptized, pagan Roman emperor, he stood as the absolute head of the
Christian church. "Immediately
upon coming to power as the sole ruler of the empire, but only then, Constantine
asserted the right to exercise ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY OVER THE ENTIRE CHURCH."
(Constantine's Sword, p. 188)
Second, he adopted the Trinitarian demi-gods of paganism, appeasing the
pagans; but, turning the Christians into idolaters.
He remained loyal to the sun god. Third,
he removed the Sabbath by making the “venerable day of the sun” the official
day of rest. Fourth, gospel
baptism was eliminated. Fifth,
he adopted pagan rites and rituals. Only
a dead form remained.
The spirit of prophesy, which was the rock of the early Christian church,
withdrew from the new Pagan Christianity. All
divine authority was lost. The
Church of Christ became the Pagan Christian Church of Rome.
Constantine, with power only from Satan and claiming to stand at the head of the
Christian church, as "vice-regent of god," was guilty of nothing less
than blasphemy. "Silvester I
(314-335), was Bishop of Rome when, under Constantine, Christianity was
virtually made the State Religion of the Roman Empire.
The Church immediately became an institution of vast importance in World
Politics. Constantine regarded
himself as head of the Church. He
called the Council of Nicea (A.D. 325), and presided over it, the First World
Council of the Church." (Halley's Bible Handbook, p. 769)
John saw this church of Satan. “3 So he carried me away in the
spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast,
full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns… 9 And here is
the mind which hath wisdom. The
seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.” (Rev. 17)
Only Rome has been synonymously known as the city of seven hills.
The recognized ecclesiastical historian, Mosheim, gave a century by century
account of the apostasy of the Christian church; and the introduction of pagan
doctrines, rites, and ceremonies. Only
a couple references will be given. Of
the second century (first one hundred years after Jesus) he wrote,
"There is no institution so pure and excellent which the corruption and
folly of man will not in time alter for the worse, and load with additions
foreign to its nature and original design. Such,
in a particular manner was the fate of Christianity." (Mosheim, Ecclesiastical
History, Century II, Part II, chap. 4:1)
Of the fourth century he wrote, "The rites and institutions, by
which the Greeks, Romans, and other nations, had formerly testified their
religious veneration for fictitious deities, were now adopted, with some slight
alterations by Christian bishops, and employed in the service of the true
God." (Century IV, Part II, chap. 4:4)
John Wesley, one of the founders of Methodism, wrote
concerning the loss of the spiritual gifts of the Holy Ghost; and the Christians
returning to heathenism. "The
cause of this was not, as has been supposed, because there was no more occasion
for them, because all the world was become Christians.
This is a miserable mistake; not a twentieth part of it was then
nominally Christian. The real cause
of it was that the love of man, almost all Christians, so-called, was waxed
cold. The Christians had no more of
the spirit of Christ than the other heathens.
The Son of Man, when He came to examine His Church, could hardly find
faith upon earth. This was the real
cause why the extraordinary gifts of the Holy Ghost were no longer to be found
in the Christian church-- because the Christians were turned heathens again, and
only had a dead form left." (John Wesley's Works, Vol. VII,
89:26-27)
The Church of England in its Homily Against Peril of Idolatry,
acknowledged, "So that laity and clergy, learned and unlearned, all ages,
sects, and degrees of men, women, and children of whole Christendom--an horrible
and most dreadful thing to think--have been at once drowned in abominable
idolatry; of all other vices most detested of God, and most damnable to man; and
that by the space of eight hundred years and more."
Daniel prophesied of the same beast (empire) with ten heads; as John in
Revelations. This beast was to
finally destroy all of the saints of God; and reign supreme over the souls of
men for 1260 years. “And
he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints
of the most High, and THINK TO CHANGE TIMES AND LAWS: and they shall be given
into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time." (Dan. 7:24,
25)
“17 And the dragon [Pagan Rome] was wroth with the
woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the
commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” (Rev. 12)
“5 And there was given unto him a mouth [Papal Rome] speaking great things and
blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months… 7
And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and
power was given him over ALL kindreds, and tongues, and nations.” (Rev. 13)
Paul wrote that Jesus would not return until the “man
of sin” was revealed. “4
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is
worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that
he is God… 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that
they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the
truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thess. 2)
A papal decree stated, "I do make holy and unholy; I do justify the wicked;
I forgive sins; I open and no man shutteth.
All the world is my diocese, and I am the ordinary of all men, having the
authority of the King of Kings upon subjects.
I am in all and above all... If these things that I do be said to be done
not of man, but of God, WHAT DO YOU MAKE ME BUT GOD?... I being above all
prelates, seem by this reason to be above all gods; whereupon no marvel if it be
in my power to CHANGE TIMES AND ABROGATE LAWS, to DISPENSE with all things, yea,
THE PRECEPTS OF CHRIST." (Bolton's, The Great Antichrist, p. 48)
Possibly the most inclusive statement of the identity and supposed powers of
popes was given in the Dissertation on the Prophecies (Rev. G. S. Faber,
Vol. 1, pp. 203, 204):
1. "Our
Lord God the Pope."
2. "Another God upon the
Earth."
3. "King of Kings and Lord of Lords."
4. "His Majesty Divine."
5. "The power of the pope is greater than all created power, extending
itself to things celestial, terrestrial and infernal, and that the pope doeth
whatsoever he listeth even things unlawful, and is MORE THAN GOD."
6. "The victorious God and man in his see at Rome."
7. "Named GOD by Constantine.
8. "The Lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world."
9. "The Most Holy who carrieth the Most Holy."
10. "All the kings of the earth shall worship him and all nations serve
him."
Rome
and the Catholic church are easily identified with the “man of sin” and
“son of perdition.” Rome is the
only city that matches prophecy; and is synonymously known as the city of seven
hills. “9 And here is the mind which
hath wisdom. The seven heads are
seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. 10 And there are seven kings: five
are fallen [Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, and Greece], and one is [Pagan
Rome], and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a
short space [Pagan Christian Rome]. 11 And the beast that was, and is not, even
he is the eighth [Papal Rome], and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.”
(Rev. 17)
Less obvious is the image of the beast; which shares the same fate with Rome.
“20
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that
wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark
of the beast, and them that worshipped his image.
These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.”
(Rev. 19) Only Protestantism
is an image of the beast; worshipping the same gods, usurping the authority of
God, violating the Sabbath, honoring pagan rites and festivals, and disobeying
the gospel of Christ. Jesus will
soon return, “8 In flaming fire taking
vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord
Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the
presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.” (2 Thess. 1)
Antichrist
Many believe the Biblical term “antichrist” applies to some evil world
leader. Not true!
There were many antichrists in the days of the Apostles.
“18
Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall
come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last
time.” (1 John)
The term “Christ” is not a proper name.
It refers to the “anointing” (ordination) to divine authority.
As Jesus was ordained to the highest degree of the Melchisedec
priesthood, Messiah and Savior of all mankind, the term most significantly
applies to Him. “18 And Jesus came and spake
unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” (Matt.
28) Every minister of God in
the Bible was, “called
of God, as was Aaron” (Heb. 5:4). Jesus
was ordained by the Father (Heb. 5:5). The
Apostles were ordained by Jesus (Mark 4:14).
The Apostles ordained elders in every church (Acts 14:23).
No one can act in the name (authority) of God without being called by prophesy
and being ordained at the hands of one holding that authority.
The term “antichrist” applies to any person that acts in the name of
God; without being called of God and properly ordained.
Constantine stood as the absolute head of the Christian church by virtue
of the sword and civil authority. He
stood as the great antichrist. As the stream can rise no higher than its source,
all divine authority was lost among the followers of Constantine.
Dissenters may have continued with divine authority for some years.
The Popes were next to stand as great antichrists.
They think to stand as God on earth.
It has been estimated the Catholic Church made martyrs out of fifty
million people. Divine authority was
wiped out for 1260 years.
The Christian church lost all divine authority with Constantine.
If the Catholic Church was true, protesting Catholics lost divine
authority with their excommunication. As
the Catholic Church held no authority, there was none to inherit by others.
By claiming no authority, Protestants admit to being
antichrists—anti-anointed. None
admit to a calling by the spirit of prophesy; and none even recognize the proper
offices of the priesthood. Anyone
who preaches and claims to act in the name of God, without divine authority, is
an antichrist.
Salvation Ended When Baptism Ended
Baptism is a primary requirement to enter the kingdom of God.
“5 Jesus answered, Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he
cannot enter into the
kingdom
of
God
.”
(John 3) Baptism was
eliminated by the Catholic Church. Baptism
means immersion. That is the only
mode of baptism administered in the Bible.
A prerequisite to baptism is repentance. Little
children, lacking in the capacity to comprehend sin, are not in need of baptism.
“14
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me:
for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 19)
Rather than baptizing these little children, Jesus blessed them, “15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed
thence.”
Pagans, though, believed in baptism before repentance; and in baptizing infants.
“Now, the same was the case in Babylon, and there the new birth was conferred
by baptism. In the Chaldean mysteries, before any instruction could be
received, it was required first of all, that the person to be initiated submit
to baptism in token of blind and implicit obedience… Our own Pagan ancestors,
the worshippers of Odin, are known to have practiced baptismal rites, which,
taken in connection with their avowed object in practicing them, show that,
originally, at least, they must have believed that the natural guilt and
corruption of their new-born children could be washed away by sprinkling them
with water, or by plunging them, as soon born, into lakes or rivers.” (The
Two Babylons, p. 132)
"So important, according to Rome, is baptism for this purpose, that on the
one hand, it is pronounced of 'absolute necessity for salvation,' insomuch that
infants dying without it cannot be admitted to glory... It is anti-Scriptural,
for the Lord Jesus Christ has expressly declared that infants, without the
slightest respect to baptism or any external ordinance whatever, are
capable of admission into all the glory of the heavenly world:
'Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not; for of such
is the kingdom of heaven.'... Yet the Roman Catholic Bishop Hay, in defiance
of every principle of God's Word, does not hesitate to pen the following:
'Question: What becomes of
young children who die without baptism? Anwser:
If a young child were put to death for the sake of Christ, this would be
to it the baptism of blood, and carry it to heaven; but except in this case, as
such infants are incapable of having the desire of baptism, with the other
necessary dispositions, if they are not actually baptized with water, THEY
CANNOT GO TO HEAVEN." (The Two Babylons, pp. 129, 130)
The Catholic Church made two changes to baptism:
(1) they adopted the pagan practice of baptizing infants, and (2) they
replaced baptism with sprinkling. The
effect of these changes was to stop any person from entering the kingdom of
heaven. Baptism of the unrepentant
is vain. Sprinkling a little water
on an infant does not represent the required Biblical baptism--immersion.
Jesus was the example for all. “6
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he
walked.” (1 John 2)
What of those Protestant churches who now practice baptism by immersion?
By their practice they admit that no one can be saved by faith alone.
They claim no divine authority to administer those ordinances.
For hundreds of years before the Reformers, not one person had entered
the kingdom of heaven. As John
prophesied, “7 And
it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and
power was given him over ALL kindreds, and tongues, and nations.” (Rev. 13)
As Rome had lost all divine authority, both by admitting civil power in place of
divine authority, and by removing baptism from the gospel of Christ, the
Catholic Church had no divine authority to pass on to Protestantism.
If she had, it was used to excommunicate them.
Without divine authority, baptism is nothing but a brief, insignificant
dip. Without gospel baptism, by one
holding divine authority, none can enter the kingdom of heaven.
From claims to presumptions
The claim to divine authority made by Rome has been that Peter was the
first pope in Rome; and that there has been a continuous line of popes.
First, the Bible makes no mention of the office of Pope.
Peter was an Apostle; and not a Bishop.
The highest office in the Catholic Church, below the Pope, is Bishop.
The office of Bishop is inferior to the offices of Apostle, High Priest,
and elder. These are ranks within
the Melchisedec Priesthood. A Bishop
is a rank within the lower, Aaronic Priesthood.
The Bishop administered in temporal affairs.
The Melchisedec Priesthood administers in spiritual affairs.
Second, no pope has ever been called of God, as was Aaron.
A fundamental rule of the priesthood is that one cannot call another to
an office higher than his own. The
governor of one state cannot call the President of all states.
Since the office of Bishop is lower than that of Pope, by what right do
these confer such a blessing? “7 And
without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.” (Heb. 7)
Not one pope was ever “called of God, as was Aaron.”
Third, there was no Bishop of Rome that claimed authority over the
church; until 570 AD. There was no
head of the church from John to Constantine.
Constantine stood as the absolute head of his reorganized Catholic Church
in 325 AD—not as Pope; but as Emperor of Rome.
“In 568 the Lombard invasion begun, and in three years intercepted all
communication between Rome and the Exarchate, by which the popes became sole
masters of Rome and acquired all the civil and military power, as well as
spiritual authority in the city, A.D. 570...." (Prophetic History,
Rev. William Ward, a distinguished divine of the Church of England, Vol. 5, p.
240) The Catholic Church fails on all points to be in possession of divine
authority.
Martin Luther, in his attempt to “reform” the Catholic Church, was
excommunicated from the church. Realizing
that he was left without any claim to divine authority, he made a change to the
gospel of Christ: he taught the
doctrine of salvation by faith only. This
presumption is not supported by the Bible.
If he really believed that a person could be saved by faith only, why did
he continue to administer baptism? Either
a person is saved at the moment of such faith for eternity, or he is not.
If baptism is required, a person cannot be saved by faith alone.
“19
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe,
and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is
dead?” (James 2)
The whole essence of the Bible is worshipping the only true and living
God, honoring Jesus as our Savior, and obeying the law of God.
Will adherents to Luther’s presumption excuse us from obeying the
gospel and law of God? “21 Not every one that saith
unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth
the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 7)
The case of Cornelius is one example of a righteous man that worshipped God and
honored Jesus as his Savior; but, could not enter the kingdom of God, without
being baptized by one holding divine authority.
Every case of baptism, in the Bible, was performed by one holding divine
authority.
(4) Membership in the Kingdom
Every government establishes laws for entry as citizens.
The kingdom of heaven has specific laws that must be followed to become a
member of the kingdom. It is known
as the gospel of Christ. “For
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the
Greek.” (Rom. 1:16)
Man must first submit his will to the will of God.
“choose you this day
whom ye will serve… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
(Joshua 24:15) Jesus taught, “No
man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other;
or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matt. 6:24)
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt. 6:33)
No unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of God.
Before admission to the kingdom of heaven, men must appreciate their
sinful state, repent of their transgressions, and make recompense to any that
have been injured. “1
In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of
Judaea
… 7 But when he saw many of
the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation
of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth
therefore fruits meet for repentance.” (Matt. 3)
Next, a person is washed of their sins; and confirmed into the kingdom of
heaven. “Jesus
answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of
the Spirit, he cannot enter into the
kingdom
of
God
.” (John 3:5)
“13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the
way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and
few there be that find it.” (Matt. 7)
How is a man born of the Spirit? Through
the administration of one holding the Melchisedec Priesthood.
“Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy
Ghost.” (Acts 8:17) This
confirmation into the kingdom, and reception of the Holy Ghost, includes
receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. “38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name
of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the
Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all
that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2)
Paul considered the gift of prophesy the best gift.
“1 Follow after
charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.” (1 Cor.
14)
Entry into the kingdom does not assure eternal membership.
Many are called and few are chosen. Few
are able to walk on that straight and narrow path.
“But he that shall
endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Mark 24:13)
Other laws specify the behavior required to remain a member of the kingdom.
The Ten Commandments are the Constitution of the law of God.
A study of the gospel of Christ is found
on the page, “Gospel of Christ.”
The door is OPEN:
1) "And thou shalt love the
LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy
might." (Deut. 6:5) Who
knows and worships the God of Israel? Who
understands and follows the Messiah of the seed of Abraham, the tribe of Judah,
and the house of David; according to the flesh?
I do.
2) "Thou shalt not take the
name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that
taketh his name in vain." (Ex. 20:7)
Who claims to be called of God as was Aaron; as every minister of God in
the Bible? Who believes in a
ministry called by revelation? Who
claims to have been so ordained into the Melchisedec Priesthood?
I do.
3) "Remember the sabbath day,
to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the
seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God." (Ex. 20:8-10)
Who obeys the seventh day Sabbath? I
do.
4) "Then Peter said unto them, Repent,
and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For
the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even
as many as the Lord our God shall call." (Acts 2:38, 39)
Who teaches the gospel of Christ? Who
teaches that you must have faith, repent, be baptized of water, receive the Holy
Spirit, and the gift of the Holy Ghost? I
do.
5) "Know
therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth
covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a
thousand generations." (Deut. 7:9) "But
he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." (Matt. 24:13)
Who teaches that you must know and worship God, follow the gospel of
Christ, and then obey His commandments to the end of life before they can be
saved? I do.
The choice is yours, "choose you this day whom ye
will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other
side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as
for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." (Joshua 24:15)
Salvation in the kingdom of heaven can be yours.
It is my assertion that the man who ordained me was only four generations
removed from an ordination at the hands of angels, in the last dispensation to
the Gentiles. Where else can you
find all of these keys to spiritual truth? Truth
has no fear of investigation. I want
to be the best friend you ever had. The
kingdom of God is available without money; but, not without abiding in all the
commandments of God. I am your
servant in the gospel of Christ. Come
with me.
