Eternal life is dependent on knowing the God of Israel and Jesus, obeying the gospel of Christ, and enduring faithful to the laws of God to the end of mortal life.  Salvation in the kingdom of heaven should be a subject of greatest importance to man.  Yet, only a very few are to enter the kingdom of heaven in the latter days. Discover why divine authority in the priesthood is the key to unlocking the opportunities of eternal life.  Not one person in the Bible entered the kingdom of heaven without the administration of one holding the Melchisedec Priesthood.  Jesus held this priesthood; as did the Apostles; and the elders they ordained in every city.  Not one person outside the Mormon Church claims to hold this priesthood.  They can pretend only to “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” (2 Tim. 3:5)  “And no man taketh this honour [of the priesthood] unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron [by the spirit of prophecy].” (Heb. 5:4)  “…for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Rev. 19:10)

The Bible and ecclesiastical history combine to prove the Christian church fell into apostasy in the days of the Apostles.  Reverting to their pagan practices God did not appoint another Prophet; and God to the Gentiles became silent.  In 325 AD, to unite both church and state in Rome , the unbaptized, pagan Roman Emperor Constantine turned Christianity into paganism with Christian names.  The Church of Christ was lost with John, knowledge of the holy Melchisedec Priesthood became a memory.  By 570 AD, not one person remained of the kingdom of heaven.  Satan was to have complete power over the souls of men for 1260 years.  In 1829, Joseph Smith claimed to have been ordained an Apostle and Prophet; and to have restored the Melchisedec Priesthood and the original gospel of Christ.  On April 6, 1830 , he organized the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

In 1844, Joseph Smith’s was murdered; while under the protective custody of the Governor of Illinois. James J. Strang claimed to have been ordained at the hands of angels; as Joseph’s successor.  He lived four hundred miles away in Wisconsin .  Two weeks later he received the letter of appointment from Joseph by regular mail; as required by numerous LDS laws.  Brigham Young was never ordained a Prophet; and even admitted that he was not a prophet of God.  The restoration of the gospel continued through James J. Strang.

There are those that preach of a Rapture in which all who have accepted Jesus will be taken up into heaven.  This Rapture is to occur seven years before the return of Jesus.  They tell us that Jesus was to return in the year 2000.  What happened?  Why are they still here?  Jesus gave the clue to the year of His return as 2007.  They should still be gone.  The Bible teaches, “16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1 Thess. 4)

Soon, Jesus will return, “In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thess. 1:8)  The most horrible desolation to come upon the earth will become news of the day.  Escape from this Armageddon will require the “seal of God.”  Only those who obey the gospel administered by one holding the Melchisedec Priesthood, receive this seal.  Those receiving this priesthood are given “the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matt. 16:19)  Any minister that lacks the Melchisedec Priesthood cannot confirm you into the kingdom of God .  “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God .” (John 3:5)
